Statistical data indicate that the chosen approach of tax stamp protection by holograms with device-readable spectral marks has a very impressive effect on the economy. In 2008 Ukraine received an additional 200 million USD from the tobacco and alcohol taxes. Even in 2009, in spite of the global economic crisis and a decline in production, there is still a positive dynamic in tax collection. During the 18 months after the introduction of the new tax stamps no attempts of imitation or re-engineering of the spectral codes were encountered. All counterfeit cases were successfully detected by the authorities using the readers. From a definitive ‘yes/no’ authentication, through varying degrees of tracking and data validation to high speed/mass volume verification, security holograms with spectral codes are designed to meet the security requirements for a range of applications such as tax stamps, passports & ID cards and currencies.
