We are living in crazy times where extreme views and opinions seem to be dominating the news and public opinion. This is happening because we are living in a world where the finical system we have depended on for so long is being called into question, whole industries are disappearing and extreme states of existence (poor and rich) seem to be getting more extreme before our eyes.

It is not surprising then that the authentication and anti-counterfeiting stage is also seeing very extreme opinions take route.

NCPC, in partnership with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the consequences of intellectual property theft. We applaud any effort (government or other) to raise awareness of the issue, but are worried it might be falling on deaf ears.

The news of the unfortunate death of Steve Jobs has pretty much taken over the web today and with good reason. Jobs was a true genius and innovator that changed the way we interact with technology.

Those of us in the anti-counterfeiting/brand protection industry know that Apple might have the highest counterfeiting rate of any technology brand. If imitation is the highest form of flattery, we can safely say that Jobs is "the apple of the eye" of some pretty savvy counterfeiters.
