Tax Stamp Usage on the Rise PDF Print E-mail

The first post of The AntiCounterfeiting Blog made the argument that cash-strapped countries asking for bailouts should implement tax stamp programs. We argued that however small, tax stamps increase the tax revenue collected and lessen the burden of the countries giving the money.

Earlier this month we were surprised to see some very negative arguments against tax stamps. Some participants in various anticounterfeiting and brand protection Linkedin groups said that tax stamps were on the downfall and not effective.

However any doubts we had about the future of tax stamps were put to rest with the arrival of the November/December issue of Tax Stamp News.  Tax Stamp News contained several stories about countries adopting tax stamp programs or improving their tax stamps programs.

We are confident that the use of tax stamps will spread in the coming years. Tax stamps have many drawbacks, but they increase revenue for governments. That is the bottom line for any tax stamp program.
